Ingredients
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Fingerlakes Honey Company honey
1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped (remove seeds for less heat)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard and honey until smooth and fully blended.
Stir in the finely chopped jalapeño, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Go slowly—taste as you go and adjust to your liking.
(Optional) For a smoother, more uniform texture, blend the sauce in a food processor or blender.
Use immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
Tips & Substitutions:
Control the Heat – Milder version? Use half a jalapeño or remove seeds. Want more heat? Toss in a second pepper or go bold with serrano!
Swap the Vinegar – No apple cider vinegar? Try white wine vinegar or lemon juice.
Fresh Flavor Boost – Mince fresh garlic or onion instead of using powder.
Add Herbs – Stir in chopped cilantro, parsley, or chives for a fresh finish.
Recipe Variations:
Creamy Jalapeño Mustard – Stir in 2 tbsp Greek yogurt or mayo for a richer, dippable sauce.
Smoky Flavor – Add 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or chipotle powder.
Extra Sweet – Love it sweet? Go up to 3 tbsp of honey.
Herb-Infused – Add a tablespoon of chopped herbs like dill or cilantro.
Heat Lovers' Dream – A dash of hot sauce or pinch of cayenne levels up the spice game.
