📝Description:
Bratwursts are one of the most beloved staples of German cooking, often enjoyed at festivals and family gatherings with pretzels, mustard, and, of course, beer. To celebrate National German American Day, we’ve given this classic a Fingerlakes Honey Company twist by adding a homemade honey mustard sauce. The honey balances the sharpness of mustard and vinegar, creating a rich glaze that pairs perfectly with savory brats and caramelized onions. Tucked into pretzel buns and topped with sauerkraut, these brats are a delicious nod to German tradition with a sweet American touch.

🍯Ingredients
4 German bratwursts (Hoffman’s if you want to keep it local 😉)
1 cup beer (lager or pilsner works best)
1 large onion, sliced
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons Fingerlakes Honey Company honey
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Pretzel buns (or any sturdy bun)
Sauerkraut (optional, but highly encouraged!)
🥣Directions
In a skillet, melt butter and add sliced onion. Cook until softened and golden.
Add bratwursts and pour in the beer. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
Uncover and cook until the liquid reduces and brats are browned.
In a small bowl, whisk honey, mustard, and vinegar.
Serve brats in pretzel buns with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and a drizzle of honey mustard sauce.
