🍯Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup whole wheat flour (or almond flour for a grain-free option)

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped or mashed

  • 1 tablespoon Fingerlakes Honey Company honey

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce (optional)

Variations to Keep Things Interesting

Once you’ve nailed the base recipe, don’t hesitate to experiment with new flavors and ingredients. Here are a few variations to try:

1. Peanut Butter and Banana Combo

Replace the strawberries with mashed bananas, and add a tablespoon of peanut butter to the mix. This variation is great for dogs who love richer, creamier flavors.

2. Oatmeal and Pumpkin Delight

For a seasonal twist, swap strawberries for pumpkin puree. This version is a hit during fall and pairs wonderfully with the warm, comforting flavor of oats.

3. Tropical Coconut Treats

Add a tablespoon of unsweetened shredded coconut to the dough and replace the strawberries with diced pineapple (in moderation). This tropical version is perfect for summer!

🥣Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the strawberries using a fork or masher.

  3. Add the honey, egg, and applesauce to the mashed strawberries and mix well.

  4. Gradually add the rolled oats and flour, stirring until a dough forms. Adjust consistency with additional flour or water if needed.

  5. Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to ¼ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters or shape the biscuits by hand.

  6. Place the biscuits on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and firm.

  7. Let the biscuits cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Store the biscuits in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

  • For longer storage, freeze in a ziplock bag for up to 3 months.

  • Adjust baking time for crunchier or softer treats.

  • Customize with alternative fruits or flour types to suit your dog’s preferences.
