🍯Ingredients
For the Meatballs
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon Fingerlakes Honey Company's Roasted Garlic Dip Mix
For the Honey Garlic Glaze
1/3 cup Fingerlakes Honey Company's Raw Honey or spice them up with our Sting Honey (mild, medium, or hot)
1 tablespoons Fingerlakes Honey Company's Roasted Garlic Dip Mix
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
For Decorating
Small mozzarella balls or cheese pieces for eyes
Black olive pieces or edible decorating gel for pupils
Thin strips of red bell pepper for tongues, optional
Toothpicks
🥣Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Parmesan cheese, and Roasted Garlic Dip Mix. Do not overmix.
Form the mixture into approximately 6 meatballs (or make them smaller for appetizers) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 25-30 minutes (20-25 for smaller), or until the meatballs are cooked through to 160°F internally.
While the meatballs bake, combine the Raw Honey, Roasted Garlic Dip Mix, soy sauce, ketchup, water, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan.
Bring the glaze to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
Transfer the cooked meatballs to the saucepan and gently toss until coated in the honey garlic glaze.
Return the glazed meatballs to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 3–5 minutes to set the glaze.
Allow the meatballs to cool slightly before decorating.
Attach mozzarella “eyes” with small pieces of toothpick and add olive pupils. Add red pepper tongues if desired.
Serve warm and watch your little monsters disappear!
Tips
The meatballs can be prepared ahead of time and reheated in the glaze just before serving.
If serving to children, make sure all toothpicks are removed before eating.
Serving suggestions: Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, rice, or pasta.
