šBuzz Around the Farmš
We've had a Bee-sy May here at Fingerlakes Honey Company.
Here are some highlights-
We celebrated World Bee Day by catching 2 honey bee swarms!!
With the rainy weather, it has been a difficult month to tend to the bees. Despite the wetness, we did manage to install our swarms and add honey supers to the hives. Looking forward to harvest time.
Did you know we also raise chickens? This year we didn't have a broody hen, so we incubated our eggs. We hatched 13 healthy chicks who are now practicing their āawkward teenā phase. They have ventured outside in their protected run to eat yummy bugs and green plants. They are loving it!
We still have hatching eggs available for purchase. See picture above for more info and contact us if interested.Ā $1 EA
Lavender and other pollentating plants are blooming...cue the bee party!
We've been working on a new beeswax candle. Stay tuned for more info.
Our gardening has been a bit on hold, again due to the rain. We are hoping this coming week of nice weather will allow us to get the rest of our veggies planted. Wings crossed!

Here's how you can get involved:
1. Support Local Beekeepers: Purchase honey and other hive products from local beekeepers. Consider sponsoring or adopting a hive to support their work.
2. Create a Bee-Friendly Habitat: Plant a pollinator garden: Choose a variety of native plants that bloom at different times of the year to provide a continuous food source for bees. Provide water sources: Offer a shallow dish of water with pebbles for bees to drink.
3. Raise Awareness and Education: Share information about bees: Educate...
It's only fitting to catch 2 swarms on World Bee Day! What a way to celebrate!
We have a total of 5 so far. Wowsers!
Hats off to our hard-working beekeeper who goes above and beyond to help others
