Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon Fingerlakes Honey Company’s Honey
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped
3/4 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing on top)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, Fingerlakes Honey Company’s Honey, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using).
Add the cubed cold butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped chives.
Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 2-3 times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
Using a round biscuit cutter (or the rim of a glass), cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops of the biscuits with the melted butter.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
Serve warm, drizzled with a little extra Fingerlakes Honey Company’s Honey for an added touch of sweetness!
